Cancer
The risk of cancer, as well as cardiopulmonary disease
and all other diseases, increases with longterm—even minimal
levels—of air pollution.
Studies using data from the American Cancer Society's Cancer Prevention Studies, specifically CPS-II, have contributed to the body of evidence that has established the link between cancer risk and air pollution in the form of particulates and ozone. These studies address a wide range of potential exposures that may be associated with cancer.
While smoking is the main cause of lung cancer, emissions from vehicles accounted for about 30% of the overall average cancer risk from air pollution; most of this is due to benzene. Local industry emissions account for about 25 percent.
Benzenea widespread
urban air pollutantis the largest contributor to total cancer risk from air pollutants.
Long-term exposure to high levels of benzene in the air can cause leukemia, cancer of the blood-forming organs.
Leukemia in children seems to have a higher incidence rate among children exposed to higher pollution levels,
especially motor traffic emissions.

"... I have the new AllerAir unit in the office. It runs while I conduct the classes and not only keeps
the room cleaner for patients, but lets them witness it in action.
"We look forward to receiving the different samples of components of the air cleaner for anyone needing
tolerance testing. Thank you again for helping me to broaden my knowledge in this important health-related area."
