A powerful general purpose air purifier, the Austin Air Healthmate
(HM400) removes a broad range of indoor air pollutants
including dust, pollen, pet dander, mold, bacteria, viruses,
chemicals, gases and odors.
The Austin Air Healthmate is suitable for use
at home to reduce airborne irritants that aggravate allergies,
asthma and multiple chemical sensitivity. Since the Healthmate
traps airborne biological contaminants, it is also effective
in medical examination rooms and waiting rooms.
Austin Air's 360-degree intake system draws air into all sides of the Healthmate.
The air passes first through two pre-filters inside the
machine, then a combined filter of 60 sq.ft. of true medical
grade HEPA and 15 pounds of activated carbon.
The HEPA filter
removes 99.97% of airborne particles 0.3 microns in diameter
and the carbon filter traps odors, chemicals and gases.
The outflow of air from the Healthmate is directed slightly upwards,
creating a significant 'clean air pocket'.
The pre-filter in this unit can be cleaned by vacuuming the four sides of
the outside screen with a vacuum brush attachment (no disassembly
required). Removal of filters for replacement is done
by unscrewing the bottom plate of the unit. |

FILTRATION SYSTEM
The Austin Air HealthMate (HM400) utilizes a 4-stage filtration system:
- Large particle pre-filter – removes dust, hair and pet dander
NOTE: The pre-filter should be cleaned at least once a month by vacuuming the outside screen of the unit with a soft brush attachment
- Medium particle pre-filter wrapped around the combined carbon and HEPA filter – removes mold, spores and pollen
- 15 pounds of activated carbon with zeolite – removes gases, odors and chemicals
- 60 sq.ft. of true medical grade HEPA – traps 99.97% of airborne particles 0.3 microns in diameter

MECHANICAL: Your Austin Air cleaner is warranted to be free from defects in material and workmanship
under normal residential use for 5 years from the date of purchase.
FILTER: The length of filter life will be different in each home. Many factors are involved such as the amount of dust and pollution which come in from outside when windows are open (and they must be opened regularly); renovation materials; home cleaning products; 'air fresheners'; candles; perfumes; personal care products and sprays ... items we take for granted and don't even notice.
